Who and What is the Open Mic Scout?
The name pretty much says it all. My name is E Einowski and I go out scouting open mics for good acts. By scouting I mean going out and collecting information about the acts. And what better information can you have about a musical act than a good recording!
So I bring along with me my full multi-track recording studio, taking over sound for the night, and bringing to you, the listener, a near studio quality sound that surpasses what you would normally hear from live recordings (a stereo mic setup in the crowd.)
What I love most about this project is that it is truly equal oppertunity. Anyone can come in and play at these open mics and everyone ends up on the podcast. With the exception of the “Highlights” podcast, I don’t go picking and chosing what I put on the podcast. I just put up what I recorded and that is that!
Listening to this podcast you will discover artists that would have never made it on your radar otherwise. Best of all, this is all real life music. No studio musicians, no overdubbing. Just straight up live performances by some surprisingly talented musicians. In a day and age were most music is over produced, I find it refreshing to hear something real and unchanged.
